Plot:

After the identity of Hood was revealed, Sheriff Blackthorne has become much wiser to his tricks, but when Sir Gisbourne is summoned to London by Prince John himself, the Sheriff must join his side and leave Nottingham.

Upon hearing of the capture of King Richard, brother of Prince John, the Prince is less than eager to pay quite literally a king’s ransom for his safe return. A plan is set in motion that goes against Richard, with the Sheriff stationed to protect the ransom on its way to Dover. After a turn of events, Blackthorne may find himself with some unusual allies.

Meanwhile with Robin and The Sheriff away in London, Marian sets her own plans in motion to take back Nottingham, but she’s going to need some help.

Story:

From Nottingham #6

Carrying on after the events of the previous run, Nottingham #6 delivers a continuation of the same quality storytelling that makes this series so brilliant. Dark plots, twists and turns in the events, and brilliantly designed characters to bring it all to life. Each page keeps you guessing as to what may happen next and just when you think you know, something unexpected happens.

Art:

The series as a whole uses heavy shadows, which continues in this issue. The whole book is set upon mystery and secrecy so it makes sense for there to be heavy use of shadows both for the backgrounds and the characters themselves. It portrays a darker side to every character that slowly emerges with each issue in this twisted fantasy. It’s quickly become one of the best-looking books on the market and the quality continues in this new issue.

Conclusion:

Nottingham is an intricate story with a lot of depth to it. It may appear to be just another Robin Hood story but there’s definitely something truly spectacular unfolding throughout each issue and I cannot wait to see where the story goes. Secrecy, betrayal, and blood, all combined to make a Robin Hood story unlike any other!

Nottingham #6 is now available for preorder on the Mad Cave site, now in Previews, and officially in stores on April 6, 2022
